Ger's second album in the Irish language since 'Fréamh:Root' in 2011.
Here we have songs from ‘The Ballyvourney Collection’ gathered in 1913-14 in Gaeltacht Múscraí, North West Cork by A.Martin Freeman, published in 1920-21 in the journal of ‘The Folksong Society’. The collection remained largely obscure until unearthed again by Seán Ó Riada in the 1960’s while a little later the song ‘Aisling Geal’ was made famous by his son Peadar O’ Riada with Iarla Ó Lionáird.
This beautiful album is the fruit of the last 7 years learning with Ger delving deeper into the melody and poetry of the rich heritage of traditional song with some great encouragement along the way from singers from Gaeltacht Múscrai.
