Hunting the Hair and Other Pursuits - Con Ó Drisceoil
Con “Fada” Ó Drisceoil is a songwriter and accordion player from Cork.
This is a hardcover Songbook with melody notation, background stories and wonderful illustrations by Edain O'Donnell
He has written comic songs on a wide range of subjects which includes canine castration, Shakespearean tragedy, unwelcome percussionists and the wildlife of County Clare. In 2006 he published The Spoons Murder and Other Mysteries, a book and CD of his songs. In 2009 he was awarded Gradam Ceoil TG4 for his songs. His new songbook/CD is called Hunting the Hair and Other Pursuits, and tells of savage cats, anti-baldness quests, hypochondria, drunken deer and many similarly heroic topics.
As well as being a singer he is a fine player of the button accordion and specializes in the music of Sliabh Luachra. He is joined by fiddler/singer Johnny McCarthy and Pat "Herring" Ahern on guitar as The Four Star Trio. OSSIAN carries their two fab CDs; The Square Triangle and Magnetic South. Along with Hammy Hamilton on Flute and voice, and Seamus Creagh on Fiddle and voice, Con has another gem of a CD offered by OSSIAN titled: It's No Secret
