Sen Garvey from Cahirsiveen, Co. Kerry has long been \r\nconsidered by aficionados as one of Ireland's finest \r\ntraditional singers, with equal facility in both Irish \r\nand English languages. He is also a highly accomplished \r\nplayer of guitar, flute and tenor-banjo.\r\nSen's first solo C.D., "n dTalamh Amach/\r\nOut Of The Ground", was launched in l998 to great\r\n critical acclaim. \r\n
\r\n
\r\nReviews of Sen's first C.D.:\r\n'Mastered, eloquent, intense singing and playing of the\r\n highest order make this one of the best albums of the \r\nlast decade'.\r\n

Sen's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes classic \r\nsongs in both Irish and English. He has received a \r\nnumber of awards and accolades for his singing, \r\nincluding the All Ireland Senior title in l982.\r\nOn-stage he will sing a sean-nos song at its rawest and \r\nmost emotionally intense, or songs sensitively \r\naccompanied by his own guitar playing. His set also \r\nincorporates rhythmically varied instrumental music,\r\n mainly on flutes and guitar, from the riches of the \r\nIrish music tradition. \r\n\r\n
\r\n
\r\n

Known in Ireland as a 'singer's singer', Sen is also a \r\nhighly respected authority on the Irish music tradition.\r\nHe is an honours graduate of Irish Language and Folklore\r\nfrom University College Dublin and has an M.A. in \r\nEthnomusicology from Limerick University. He enjoys \r\ncombining the roles of guest speaker/performer/educator \r\nin a wide variety of cultural forums.\r\n\r\n
